Our founder Paul Hill was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica and has over 20 years of experience in the food & beverage industry. Paul believes in using fresh, natural ingredients in order to deliver premium quality products.
When Paul moved to Halifax from the Caribbean, there were two things he missed: the weather and the food. So he began to focus on the one thing he could actually change.
Paul has been making jerk sauce for a long time but when he moved to Canada in 1994 he began making it for friends and family. His once constantly evolving sauce was finally formalized after a trip back to Jamaica when he visited the market where his mother had a store. He was overcome by the savory smell of pimento and decided to add it to his Jerk Sauce. This was the turning point for Paul as after that trip his friends began encouraging him to sell his sauce. The rest as they say, is history.
What started as a single product in a single store has quickly became a line-up of sauces sold in many stores, including Sobeys and Pete’s, all across Atlantic Canada.
Jamaican Jerk Sauce is derived from African ancestry and has morphed over hundreds of years as various cultures added their influence. Hill's is proud to continue on this tradition by making Jerk Sauce in Nova Scotia, Canada.
